In Flight Fun for the Kids ~ Disney Themed Word Search Books

In Flight Fun for the Kids is a series of posts focused on sharing great items to pack in your child's carry on bag when flying to Disney or any other vacation destination.  Today, I am sharing yet another great find from The Dollar Tree, as well as an update to a previous post in this series.

The Dollar Tree tends to be my number one source for some of our carry on items.  On our last trip to The Dollar Tree, we found a wide selection of Disney themed word search books.  Not only did they feature some of our favorite characters, but they were smaller than regular sized coloring books or notebooks.  They would easily fit into the kids' backpacks in the front pockets without weighing them down.

Unlike the Disney-themed Play Packs, featured earlier in this series, which include their own set of crayons, you would need to also pack your own crayons or writing utensils.  The good thing is, there is no shortage of Disney themed crayons at The Dollar Tree either!  From Disney Princesses to Cars to Disney Junior characters to Monsters University, you can find crayons to suit the likes of your child.  Though, after testing out all the ones you see in the photo, I do not recommend the confetti crayons.  They crumble as you use them because the colors were not melded well together (or at least that's my non-expert opinion on why they crumble).

What I really like is that the books come in different levels.  I could purchase one for all three of my kids, who will be 10, 8 and 7 on our next trip.  The Disney Junior character books include word searches with larger letters and the words to be found are also in large print.  The word search area is 11 rows of 7 letters.  The Level 2 books, which include Monsters University, have smaller print.  The word search board is 16 rows of 16 letters.  The varying levels makes them great for kids of all ages.  Even better, it doesn't hurt to have a little fun with words/reading while traveling to Disney.

For the Disney Junior versions, our local store carried Doc McStuffins, Sophia the First and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  With a quick search online, I found they are also available in Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Minnie Mouse.  For the level 2 books, our store had Monsters University and the Avengers.  I could not find online any other level 2 books, but I will keep searching ... I am sure there are more.  Of course we always focus on Disney characters, but they did also offer others, including Hello Kitty.

My children happen to love word searches, so this was a great find for us and they are already set aside for our next trip to Walt Disney World!

I also found the newest version of the Disney Antibacterial Hand Wipes, which were featured earlier in this series.  Make sure you check that out to see the new and improved packaging (well, improved for us, as they now feature more characters and ALL of them are my children's favorite characters list!).  Head on over to see the update: Disney-Themed Antibacterial Hand Wipes

Thanks, Donna Kay! We aren't going until February, but the kids are already asking if they can use them! :-) The crayons are great for little ones because they are the fatter ones!
