Back to School with Olaf, Anna, Elsa and Friends for the Frozen Blog Hop

I am very excited to be participating in the Frozen Blog Hop! You will find many posts by many bloggers talking about Frozen crafts, parties, clothes and much, much more!  Make sure you check out all the great articles in the links below!

Growing up, I always loved going back to school shopping.  I wasn't necessarily excited about all the clothes buying, but I looked forward to picking out that perfect Trapper Keeper (does this give my age away?  Do they even still sell these?), cute and colorful folders, new pencils, fun lunchbox and of course, a new backpack! Now as a mom, I still LOVE shopping for these things for my own children.  And today, compared to when I was younger, there are so many options to choose from!

My children all love Disney's Frozen (I have yet to meet someone who doesn't!) and we have been in search of bringing as many "warm hugs" and Frozen fun to our back to school shopping excursions as we can.  Unfortunately, where we live EVERYTHING is sold out.  That's right, every store in my area is clean out of anything remotely related to Anna, Elsa, Olaf and friends.  Even travelling almost an hour away to go to the larger stores, we came home with just three things ... a Frozen backpack and two lunchboxes.  Add to it, it was the LAST of the backpacks and we purchased the last two Frozen lunchboxes.  Luckily, Hayley was fine with Emily having the backpack and they each have a lunchbox.  So needless to say most of what I am sharing today, I have found online and check back weekly at our local stores in hope that something, anything Frozen shows up!

Here are the girls Frozen lunchboxes
and Emily's Frozen backpack that
we found at Toys R Us
The first back to school items we buy each year are backpacks and lunchboxes.  Not only is it nice to get them early so that we are sure to get our favorite characters, but as we purchase our other school supplies, they all go into the backpacks.  Everything is easily stored in one place.  It helps me keep track of who has what and what we have left to purchase.  There are many places to find backpacks, including Toys R' Us, WalMart, Target to name a few.  At Toys R' Us, if you purchase a backpack, you get a free lunchbox.  It actually worked out for us to be a great deal!

What goes with the perfect Frozen backpack and lunchbox?  A Frozen water bottle and/or thermos.  My children drink a lot of water.  Luckily all their teachers have allowed them to keep water bottles on their desks.  The thermos will be a bit more costly than the regular water bottles, but from experience, I can say they are worth the investment.  They last a long time and do not show wear and tear as some of the regular water bottles do.  For even more Frozen fun, purchase some Frozen napkins to give them with their lunch or snack each day.  I generally give my children napkins that match the season or the sport they are participating in or something that matches what they are studying in class.  So adding a Frozen napkin into their lunchbox is a great way to bring a little Disney into their day.

This is just a sample of what is available. We recommend the thermos!

From folders to rulers to stationary to pencils and much more, there isn't much out there that does not come in some version of Frozen.  If you can't find Frozen pencils at your local store, check out party stores or websites.  Generally they can be found with the favors in each party theme, same goes for pens!  My children bring new folders at the beginning of each school year.  Sometimes the teachers supply their own for home to school communications, but for those that don't, an Olaf or Anna & Elsa folder is a fun way to get homework home and back to school.  Though the school has never asked us to supply notebooks for school, we always purchase new notebooks.  My girls LOVE to write stories and draw.  They have a 45 minute ride home on the bus, so having a notebook is a great way to pass the time while waiting to get home.  Plus, the fun Frozen covers could be a bit of inspiration for their masterpieces!
This just touches a sample of all that is available for back to
school supplies.

Being from a small town, we have a bus stop that is not on our street and takes a couple minutes to walk there.  Since I refuse to drive unless there are torrential downpours, we also stock up on the appropriate outdoor gear to get to the bus stop.  Umbrellas are usually necessary, but also as winter approaches, being dressed warmly is a must.  We have spent many mornings waiting for the bus when the temperatures were at or below zero.  What better way to keep warm than to be bundled up in some fun Frozen hats, mittens, coats and boots?

Of course, buying new clothes has never been a favorite of mine, but who can resist showing off their love of Frozen with new shirts featuring Anna, Elsa and Olaf?  Wal-Mart, Kohl's, JC Penny, Target and many more retailers all have plenty of Frozen themed clothes to choose from. In our area, if they ever come back into stock, Wal-Mart has the best prices, though if you happen to get a Kohl's coupon when their Frozen clothes are on sale, you could get a great deal there too!

Finally, new pajamas are a must around here for back to school.  As the temperatures begin to drop and our days become busier, there is no better way to get back into the school routine than with a good sleep! The perfect pair of pajamas will help with exactly that!

This doesn't even touch the surface of all the amazing Frozen items out there to get everyone ready to go back to school.  To see all these items and more, you can head on over to my Pinterest Board - Back to School with Olaf, Anna, Elsa and Friends.

Good luck with your back to school shopping!
Will you be adding any Frozen items to your school style or supplies?

We were at Target yesterday and bought a frozen notebook and folder for home. Trying to set up a little desk for my second grader that she will enjoy doing her homework in...a dream I know LOL. LOVE The thermos bottle too! I wish our school let them keep water at their desk.

How fun! I am lucky, all three of my kids like doing homework, so they have fully decorated homework areas. LOL! I wish we had a Target near us. Ours is over 45 minutes away. But I may need to make the trip! :-)

I think the umbrella is my favorite. Lexi will start 4 year old kindergarten this year, pinning these for Ashley. Thanks for sharing them Beth.

My girls both want the umbrella! We'll see if it is ever in stock around here! :-)

Absolutely!! Hopefully our stores get more stock in but I am just happy we were able to grab the back pack before they were sold out. :-)

I agree with you Beth- there's nothing like that "fresh start" and back to school shopping. I guess this year, that shopping would have to have started in June to get Frozen items!! I hope you have some luck on-line, and that you get that UMBRELLA. (Or two!)

I bet there will be TONS of little girls going to school this year with Anna & Elsa.

You are right ... I'll need two of everything! :-) Still haven't found any of these, but hopefully, we will make the trek down to the stores and hour away and see if we can find something there. Otherwise, I will be buying plain folders, plain notebooks and Frozen stickers and we'll make our own! :-)

I will have to be sure our lunchboxes and backpack are well marked! I have a feeling there will be some doubles or triples of these! :-)

I have seen so many Anna and Elsa backpacks at our school this year! I love it! while we are stuck with Star Wars, if I had a girl, I'm sure Frozen would be top of the list! :) I haven't thought about the outdoor gear! Great choices.

Thanks, Beth! Two other girls in Emily's class have the same Frozen backpack. I had to make sure hers was well marked!! :-)
