Lilo and Stitch Best Friends Breakfast at 'Ohana in Disney's Polynesian Resort

This article was originally published in the WDW Daily News newsletter as part of my Making Magical Memories column in July 2013.

Dinner at ‘Ohana in Disney’s Polynesian Resort is one of our favorite dining spots and makes our “must do” list every trip.  This year not only did we enjoy dinner here, but we also experienced the Lilo and Stitch Best Friends Breakfast.

When we checked in for our reservation, we were all given leis, which my girls loved!  Then we had a family picture taken, which were brought to our table during our meal and we had the option to purchase.  Our photo was so great, we HAD to purchase ours.  Anytime we can get one photo with three kids and four adults all looking at the camera, eyes open and smiling, it becomes a must purchase.

We were then lead to our table.  Our server was so sweet!  She first poured us Stitch juice and there were plates of fresh fruit with a dip and baskets of bread on the table.  My kids love fruit, so we were already off to a good start.  Soon came the coffee and the kids’ milk (all included in the price of the meal).  Unlike any other character breakfast we had been to, this one was family style.  This means that the food is brought to the table, instead of having to walk to a buffet.  I loved this!  As a mom of three, I would tend to spend more time getting everyone else’s food from the buffet than my own.  On our platter was sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and potatoes.  Then, another server came around with a bowl full of Mickey waffles.  All in all, we loved the food, and as always, we all left stuffed and ready for a day of park touring.

As for characters this was such a great experience for my kids.  We got to see two of our favorites – Mickey and Pluto – and two new favorites – Lilo and Stitch.  My daughter, Hayley, had drawn pictures prior to even leaving New Hampshire for each of the characters she thought we might see.  Stitch is one of her favorites, so when he walked to our table, she was beaming!  She handed him the picture she had drawn for him.  He then placed it in his ear!  Apparently, that is where he stores things, which my kids thought this was hysterical!

I love when we try new things at Disney and fall in love with them, and this experience was just that.  From the wonderful character interactions to the family style food to the wonderful atmosphere of ‘Ohana (did I mention we had a window table and we had a great view of the castle??), this has become one of my favorite character dining experiences.  Now to see how we can squeeze in this new “must do” Disney dining experience!

Also a huge thank you to my friends Mike of My Dreams of Disney, Heidi of Heidi's Head and Mary of Capturing Magical Memories for sharing their personal reviews of this dining experience.  We were on the fence about trying it out and their reviews made me decide we just had to go for it!
