|October 2008 ~ Waiting for|
Hoop Dee Doo
When it comes to making resolutions, I will admit I really only make one or two and rarely do I take them seriously. But this year, I have one resolution, of course, completely Disney related, and there is no doubt it will be accomplished by February 24, 2012. I will be running my very first half marathon in Walt Disney World, actually my very first half marathon ever! I was quite excited when we began planning our family trip to see that the Princess Half Marathon fell during the week we would be there. It was the perfect fit! I took it as a sign that it was time to start running again.
My entire life before kids, I was a runner. I loved running! Once I had kids, I found less and less time to get myself out on a run. I guess having three kids in three years will do that to you. Well, at least that is what I am telling myself! Over the last several years, I have made several attempts to get back into running, but I always would put it aside to do something with the kids, whether that was a sports practice, a school event or just family fun here at home. Either way, I have really missed it. The Princess Half Marathon has been the best motivation to get back into running. Add to it the number of my Disney blogging friends who will also be there, and I could not turn this opportunity down! (By the way, make sure you check back on Monday because I will have a great giveaway to go along with my Disney resolution. I'll give you a hint - it is something from Capturing Magical Memories!)
As for family Disney resolutions, we have plenty to look forward to on our next trip. During the first trip with our three children, they were 3.5, 2 and 10 months. This year, they are 8, 6.5 and 5. It is hard to believe they are so grown up. They even have made their very own Disney resolutions:
|Joey, Emily and Hayley ~ October 2011 waiting for|

- Emily is finally tall enough to ride most of the thrill rides, of which she has said she is definitely experiencing Splash Mountain this trip, though I had to break the news to her that it will be closed while we are there. Hopefully, she will take a chance on some of the other "big kid" rides as she calls them. She is just excited to get to ride the attractions "like Joey and Hayley," which she has not been a part of the last trip or two.
- Hayley has made a Disney resolution to make a card for every character she wants to meet in the parks. This is a tradition of hers, which gets her a lot of fun interaction with the characters. In previous years, she handed out simple drawings. This year, the cards she has created so far have very detailed pictures inside and out, as well as lots of writing. I'll just say, she is one sweet first grader! Any character would be lucky to get one of these! Now to see how many characters she can find in the parks!
- Joey has just one goal this trip (fingers crossed it works for him this year!) - he wants to be a part of the Jedi Training Academy. I know this is difficult to get into, but I promised him we will put in our best effort to get him to participate. Of course, he knows it isn't a guarantee, but I will have to have a back up plan just in case!
Add to these being able to finally see the new Fantasyland, especially Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid, and we have plenty of new things we plan to experience on our next trip to Walt Disney World. I tend to find Disney resolutions MUCH easier to stick to than my regular ones! How about you?
