We Pursued & We Found the Magic This Week

Due to the incoming storm Irene and also getting two kids ready to go back to school, we have had a busy week!  I am co-hosting a new Disney project to countdown to Walt Disney World's 40th Anniversary, I have continued my countdown to Disney and am testing out some new-to-me Disney Apps.

This week for 100 Things to Do in Disney:
#75 Seeing the Characters in their Halloween Costumes ~ On Monday, I announced that we purchased tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, a special ticketed event hosted at the Magic Kingdom.  This will be a first for us, but seeing the characters dressed up is something I am looking forward to!

#74 Hallowishes ~ Wishes is my favorite of the nighttime shows in Walt Disney World, so I cannot wait to see how they change it up for the Halloween party!

#73 Expedition Everest ~ This is one of Pierre's favorite attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  Maybe I will be brave enough to try it out myself this year! I shared this as part of the Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by Deb at Focused on the Magic.

#72 Dumbo the Flying Elephant ~ Can you believe I have never ridden Dumbo?  Well, hopefully I will change that this year.  All the kids have this one at the top of their lists!  I shared this as part of the Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by Deb at Focused on the Magic.

#71 Kali River Rapids ~ On Friday, I joined Disney Flashback Fridays, hosted by Sarah over at Magical Days with the Mouse, with some fun memories of Kali River Rapids firsts, an attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

It was a short week for my 100 Things to Do in Disney, but that is because of a project I am co-hosting with Donna at DISTherapy.  Donna approached me about a project called 40 days to 40 Years.  It is a countdown to Walt Disney World's 40th Anniversary.  What better way to countdown to that than asking 40 people from around the web to share their Disney memories?  If you haven't seen this project yet, you can find all the posts so far, which include 1971 to 1977, at 40 Days to 40 Years.  We'll be rounding out the 70s this week and heading into the 80s!

My contribution to this project this week was 1974.  Though I didn't actually visit Walt Disney World in 1974, a family favorite tradition debuted that year!  You can find my post over at DISTherapy 1974 - 40 Days to 40 Years.

This week at home:
This week we made our annual trek to Storyland in Glen, NH.  My parents always took me there when my brother and I were little, and I really enjoy taking my own children.  The best part is that, though it is MUCH smaller than Walt Disney World, it is a great way to prepare for Disney.  I was excited that my children had no issues standing in line; they went on almost every ride since they were finally tall enough; and they spent the entire day walking around with no complaints about how tired they were.  I am taking this as a good sign they we are ready for our Disney trip!

It has finally happened, I have stepped into the 21st century.  That's right, I have purchased a smartphone.  The reason I am adding that in here to this recap is because I have downloaded the Disney Parks Mobile App (which is free to Verizon Wireless customers) and also Lines Disney World Wait Times App by Touring Plans.  After I review them, you just may see them on my countdown!  I certainly have had fun "researching" how they work and what they offer so far!  Do you have either of these apps?  I would love to know what you think!  Also, feel free to leave a recommendation on your favorite Disney app.

How did you find Disney Magic this week?  I would love to hear about it!

From our family to yours, we hope that you are safe from Irene.

Since you have spent so much extra time backing me up (thank you Irene), I'm surprised I left you any time for your magic!! Now that you have your tickets to the MNSSHP, you MUST plan on watching the Boo-to-You Parade. If you wait at its starting point, you will have a perfect shot of the Headless Horseman! He's quick, so be ready! From the vantage point of the upper platform of the WDW RR, you can catch an overview of him as he circles Town Square (and he's not too scary from up there :D). SO excited for you!
