In Flight Fun for the Kids ~ Water Bottles

For this installment of In Flight Fun for the Kids, I decided to add in something a little more on the practical side.  As you know, liquids cannot be carried through security at the airport, and if you want water, you have to purchase it at the gate.  On the last trip, my children were too big for sippy cups, but yet, not quite old enough to handle a bottle of water (forget the sports caps - not sure how many times one of them squirted themselves or each other with it) or the cups of water given out on the flight.  For our fall trip, I have purchased each of the kids new Disney water bottles.  I figure this way, I can purchase bottles of water at the gate and fill their water bottles for the flight and not worry about spills.  Plus, after one very turbulent flight, I have learned that if I don't bring water, and there is no drink service on the flight for safety reasons, everyone will be very thirsty, and the last thing I need on a long flight is three thirsty kids, particularly if it is the flight home!  The ones pictured here I purchased last year at the Disney Store Warehouse sale for just over $2 each.  Of course, you don't have to purchase Disney ones, but these happen to be our favorite.  Even better, we now have water bottles to bring into the parks.

Great tips! I remember well my kids squeezing the water bottles and it going all over on the plane. Not fun. This sort of bottle was always my favorite with the popup straw and the cute Disney design:)

I should have mentioned too - these are aluminum and were picked specifically for what you just mentioned - they can't be squeezed! :-)

I really like this idea, because this has been a challenge for us too. I didn't think you could bring any water type bottle on the plane. Good to know.

I will probably pull the empty water bottles from the backpack as we go through security so TSA knows they are empty. Then, fill them once we get past security.

One of our flights to Disney was a turbulent one with no drink service. Luckily since Bubby was still young enough, I was able to bring the small juice bottles from home, so the kids had something to drink. We poured Bubby's into his sippy cup and since the bottles were the small 4oz ones you get in the baby section, Bug practically drank hers in two drinks. I'm sure by the next time we go, Bubby will be too big for all that, so these will be perfect! Thanks for sharing!

My kids are the same way with the juice boxes - just a quick couple of sips. I needed a better strategy. Plus, it is a nice comfort from home that are used to.
