My Favorite Disney Shopping Spots in Walt Disney World

My favorite shirt from
Villians in Vogue
At home, I must admit, I am not a shopper.  I wear my clothes until they cannot make it through another day.  I use household items until they fall apart.  But in Walt Disney World, it is completely different.  Since I am a self-proclaimed roller coaster chicken, I spend a lot of time waiting, while my family enjoys the thrill rides.  It gives me an opportunity to spend a lot of time in a lot of shops.  If it were up to my kids, they would say their favorite places to shop are World of Disney or Once Upon a Toy, but for me, my favorites tend to be the smaller themed shops, which carry more unique items than the larger shops.

One of my most favorite stores is in Disney's Hollywood Studios.  When you stroll on down Sunset Boulevard, you will find Villains in Vogue.  I love this shop, because the merchandise is very unique from many of the others stores.  I personally love the princesses, but the villains are some of my favorite characters, especially Maleficent and the Wicked Queen.  On our last trip, I found the merchandise to have a significant amount of Nightmare Before Christmas items and less of the other villains. I hope this isn't going to be the trend, because being able to find drinkware, clothing, and games with the Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Cruella DeVil and all the other villains made this shop very unique.

I could spend a large portion of my Disney vacation browsing through the stores in World Showcase.  But there are two shops I just love visiting, though in both these shops, I go in alone.  My husband gets to watch the kids outside to make sure nothing is touched that shouldn't be.  The first is Volskunst in the Germany Pavilion.  The clocks on display are just beautiful, and I love taking the time to appreciate all the details.  They also have an amazing selection of authentic German beer steins.  The second shop I enjoy is La Bottega Italiana at the Italy Pavilion.  Though there are many items in here, my favorites are the Venetian masks.  They are absolutely beautiful.  What I especially appreciate about both these shops is that the items are hand crafted.  I must admit I haven't made purchases in either of these shops, but they are places I must visit on any trip to Epcot.

Joey's Ornament from his 1st
trip to Walt Disney World
Another of my favorite stores is at Downtown Disney. As you may recall from a previous post, I love Christmas and many of my Christmas decorations are Disney themed, including a Disney Christmas tree. Every trip I must spend some time at Disney's Days of Christmas. I purchase an ornament for each of my children to represent something they loved on that trip or something they experienced for the first time. The selection of ornaments is amazing, and you can find just about any character you could think of. I will admit I visit this shop several times over the course of our vacation - I can't stay away!

There are so many places to shop in Walt Disney World that every guidebook I own has a section dedicated to just shopping.  Of course, this is why we set a strict budget for souvenirs before leaving home - it could be very easy to get carried away!

Where is your favorite place to shop in Walt Disney World?

Great post! Oh, I wanted to tell you - I found a Winnie the Pooh drawing pad (like you posted about last week) at Borders - so I bought it for Ian for the trip. That was such a good suggestion!

I also love Disney's Days of Christmas. That store is amazing. Last time I was down there, I spent at least an hour trying to pick out the perfect ornament. Overwhelmed, I ended up with the big ball ornament that looks like a Mickey head with a baseball print on it. It's cute, but I think this year I'll try to pick something more unique!

I LOVE Villains in Vouge. I have an awesome Maleficent shirt that I bought there in 2001. I try not to wear it too much so it doesn't fade or fall apart. :o)

Heidi - That is great! I hadn't seen the Winnie the Pooh ones yet!

Jen - Here's my Rock 'n' Roller Coaster experience Feel free to read for a good laugh!!!!!

Melissa - I could go crazy in the Christmas store! They have so much to choose from. Plus, getting ornaments is such a great way to reminisce about trips when putting up the tree!

Jackie - Mouse Gears is a definite stop for us too! They have such a great selection of items.

Melissa - I hardly wear mine for the same reason, well and also I purchased it pre-babies, so my body shape has changed just a bit since purchasing my Wicked Queen shirt! LOL!

LOL @ "spend a lot of time waiting, while my family enjoys the thrill rides"! The RnRC gift shop must get pretty claustrophobic, we can barely stand being in there just from exiting the ride!

We noticed the same thing about Villains in Vogue on our last trip - it was mostly Nightmare Before Christmas & POTC merchandise. Hopefully they'll reintroduce more unique, or at least villain themed stuff.

Loved the post, Beth!

Definitely have to check some of these out on my trip back east next year.

And we have GOT to get you on a coaster! Come to DLR and we'll ride them together! :)

We used to have a Villains store in Fantasyland, but it's been gone for years. I used to LOVE to shop in there. So sad they took it away.

The Villians shop used to definitely be unique, so I hope it stays!

Very funny, Chad! My RnRC experience was a once in a lifetime thing! LOL!
But when I come out to DLR, you can ride the roller coasters and I'll shop around there while I am waiting for you! ;-)

What creeps me out are the pickles for Christmas in the Germany Pavilion. Even with an explanation - I just don't get it.

I love the Christmas stores! We try to get an ornament (or 2) each trip. We're trying to have an ALL WDW Christmas tree, and we're getting close! (P.S. we have a pickle!! I love the pickle!!) :-)

GREAT post! If we ever get to WDW together, we'll have to work on your roller coaster fear! ;)

I too LOVE Days of Christmas- and the Ye Old Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square (isn't that the name of it!?!) I've spent way too much money in those 2 shops over the years!!

Melissa - A Disney Christmas Tree is so great - we have one! I have so many Disney ornaments (tradition my parents started when I was little) that we had to upgrade our Disney tree to a 7.5 ft. and our regular tree to a 10 ft.!

Beth - You are too funny! I am dreading the day my kids want to go on the thrill rides because I know I will force myself to go on them so they won't think they are scary. I don't want my kids to be scared of something just because I am. I think that day is coming up quickly! LOL! (that was a nervous LOL with fingernail biting!)
