We are always finding ways to bring a little Disney into our lives between vacations. But this winter we had somewhat of a Disney villain encounter at our local grocery store. We entered our local Hannaford to begin shopping. Now as we were entering the store we were behind a woman with an extremely large, white fur coat. My daughter Hayley, just three and a half at the time, asked me if that lady was wearing a polar bear and actually looked a little scared to go into the store behind it. After explaining it was a fur coat and that she was safe, we continued our forward progress.
Our first stop was the produce section, which in this particular store is pretty cramped, so you have to follow the flow of traffic and it is difficult to get around people. The woman in the fur coat was in front of us purchasing some greens and we were trapped waiting for her to move. When the woman turned and looked at us, my son yells out, "Mommy, I didn't know Cruella De Vil shopped at Hannaford." Now in his defense this woman was quite decked out in her fur coat, tons of makeup, high heels and her hair was gray around the face and the rest was black. She wasn't sporting the Cruella De Vil gray stripe, but it was a very close resemblance. If you caught her out of the corner of your eye, you would think she was actually Cruella De Vil. My face turned bright red and I prayed the woman didn't hear, though in this produce section, it would be hard to miss any conversation. Luckily, she didn't acknowledge us and we were able to make our way by her. The rest of the grocery trip was filled with questions about Cruella De Vil ~ what she buys at the grocery store, was her coat made of dogs, was she looking for dogs, etc.
So though we weren't at Walt Disney World, to this day, my son thinks that Cruella De Vil shops at our grocery store. Just another way Disney has made its way into our life between trips!
