The 90s - The Decade I Converted My Non-Disney Husband

1995 ~ Pierre's 1st Trip
to Walt Disney World
I decided to join in the fun of "90s Week" over at Sorcerer Radio (listen in through the Live 365 player in my right side bar, or use this link to go to the Sorcerer Radio homepage and listen from there) and share some 90s Disney moments this week on my blog.  I happen to love the 90s.  It was a great decade for me.  I graduated from high school, graduated from college, married Pierre and even converted Pierre to a Disney fanatic, to name a few significant events of the decade.

In 1995, my parents were bringing my brother and I to Disney.  I had been dating Pierre for four years and my parents invited him to join us.  He had never been to Walt Disney World before, so I was really excited when he agreed to come with is.  We stayed at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and had a really great week touring the parks with my family.

1997 ~ Our friends' wedding
in Walt Disney World
We were then married in 1996.  I would have loved a Disney wedding, but the reality was too many of our friends and family would not be able to attend had we planned it in Walt Disney World.  Since our friends were getting married just a few months later in Walt Disney World, we planned to take our honeymoon at the time of their big day.  This was my very first trip without my parents.  Since Pierre was in the wedding party, we did have commitments to tend to while in Disney, but otherwise, we spent a lot of time eating at great restaurants, strolling around World Showcase and just relaxing with our friends.

We didn't make it back to Walt Disney World again in the 90s, but Pierre was on board every time I mentioned planning a trip to Disney.  We've been several times since then and I have even caught him in the last few months reading the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World.  I will admit that not until we brought the kids to Disney did he truly convert to a Disney fan, but those trips in the 90s definitely laid the foundation to a full Disney conversion.  Now, our family Disney trips are planned by both of us, not just me.

Have you converted a family member or a friend to a Disney fanatic?  What was the moment, show or attraction that made the conversion complete?

Very cute story!! My husband is not nearly as into it all as I am, but he now looks forward to our trips and likes the trivia! Oh, and great pics!

Glad you liked the pics - big bangs and scrunchies! :-) I tried to find pictures without me in them, but no luck! LOL!

I'm LOVING the Ducktales photo!! We must be very close in age... I graduated HS in 92 and college in 96. I went to WDW in 1991 before my Sr year and again in 1996 for my college graduation trip. I have lots of memories in my head from these trips, but not many photos. :(

I graduated in '91 (20th reunion just around the corner -yikes!). But I did do the 5 year plan for college and graduated in '96. Seriously, I think we could potentially be twins! :-)

What great pictures! I loved this post. I'm lucky that my boyfriend doesn't really need to be converted. He likes Disney, probably not as much as I love it, but he enjoys our trips together. I have some friends whose boyfriends/husbands absolutely refuse.

That's so great, Tiffany! You should consider yourself lucky! LOL! I don't know what I would do if I had a husband who refused to go to Disney - that would be rough and maybe grounds for divorce! :-)
